PWN is a verb

My daughter is a freshman at USU. I called her last night and asked her how she's doing with her classes. She answered with "I'm PWNing" and prounounced it like pone.

I was clueless. So was the Big Ragu (that is that we call the Pater Familia here; father of my child; head of household; love of my life; significant other; soul mate; third and current husband).

"Poning? What is that," I asked. "No, it's Pown, as in Own, spelled PWN," she said. "I'm owning this."

Oh... she's owning it. Excuse me, she's PWNing it. That's a good thing. Okay.

I looked it up on wikipedia and urban dictionary and apparently it's part of "leet speak" vocabulary used by gamers and internet online communicators who are a lot more hip and happening than I am. In fact I am pretty sure they never use the terms "hip," much less "happening."

I posted "PWNing" as my facebook status today and nobody commented. I am assuming they, like me, did not know what in the heck I was talking about. I certainly did not feel very PWN-worthy today, but I posted it anyway, just to see if there would be a reply. Zip. Not a one.

I am assuming that PWN is a verb and can be conjugated, used in past or present tense, but I read that it can also be a noun, as in the example "that is some serious PWNage you've done this week."

I'm going to add it to my vocabulary and use it the next time I talk to the daughter. Just to mess with her.
